Google Hangouts

Google Hangouts

Google Hangouts is another type of web conferencing/video calling software similar to Skype and Blackboard Collaborate (although Collaborate has a lot more advanced web conferencing features than Skype or Google Hangouts). An advantage of Google Hangouts is that everyone at the University of York has a Google account so you would not be asking your students to sign up to a third-party software if you wanted to use web conferencing in your teaching. You may have noticed that Hangouts is also part of your Gmail account and it is possible to send instant messages via text or initiate video calls from there.
