Collaborate is our supported online seminar and web conferencing tool. It allows you, students, or colleagues from around the world, to conduct an online seminar, provide tutorial-style support, and collaborate synchronously online.
The potential use of this tool is substantial, supporting not just teaching and learning for on-campus and distance students, but research collaboration, recruitment and public engagement.
We hosted two roadshows on campus (V/120, 8 Jan 2015; LMB/020, 14 Jan 2015) and one virtual roadshow (7 Jan 2015). The slide above provide a summary of the session. Additional guides are available at the bottom right of our main Collaborate page.
The Collaborate tool set includes:
- audio/video conferencing
- annotated slides/whiteboard space
- text chat
- file sharing
- computer screen sharing (for discussing student work/software demos)
- graphics calculator
- guided web browsing
Collaborate is part of the Yorkshare VLE, but can set up to be used with and without a University log in. If you want to get stuck in, take a look at our full guidance.
If your Department has a strong interest in Collaborate, I would be happy to attend a Departmental meeting to demo the tool. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
