Environment students as film makers

envWebsiteThe Environment Department is featuring a series of student created videos on the frontpage of their website. Following some basic training in production techniques, the videos were produced by students as part of the assessment on the Biodiversity and Society module to explain an element of the topic to the “general public” or a pre-defined audience such as school children or policy maker.

The assessment was designed by module leader Kate Arnold, to test students ability to meet the learning outcomes of understanding scientific research in this area and disseminate it to the wider society. Students could opt to either create a video or produce a “popular science article”.

The initiative was also presented as a poster at the recent Higher York E-learning Conference.
