Paper: Automated Testing

Robot operating keyboard

The ELDT have recently been trialling a new way of performing functional testing using web browser automation. The main rationale for this was to free up the time ELDT staff spend on testing upgrades, allowing us to concentrate on evaluating new features and enhancements instead.

David Barrett and Blayn Parkinson will be presenting a paper at the Blackboard Durham Users Conference in January on this new approach to automated testing used by the ELDT.

Downloadable resources:

The paper can be downloaded here.

Sample Selenium IDE test scripts (zip) – you will need to open these files in the Firefox Selenium IDE Plugin.
Test Plan (list of tools and tests)

Any feedback on this approach would be most welcome (david.barrett@york.ac.uk).
