Google’s Chromecast allows any laptop, tablet or phone to put the contents of their browser onto any screen through wifi with a $35 (£23) Chromecast stick plugged into it, using the underlying Remote Desktop technology. Thanks to Matthew Collins for highlighting the possibilities of adapting this powerful bit of technology, originally intended for the home entertainment market, to an educational setting. What could we do if we let students take over the screen in seminars or lectures?

The sticks have just been launched in the US and are not yet available in the UK at time of writing, with no details of the international release date.
