Mobile Learn app available for staff and students

The Yorkshare VLE has an app! If you have an eligible smartphone or tablet, you can now use it to access your VLE sites, resources, activities and more using the Blackboard Mobile™ Learn application available for;

To download and start using Blackboard Mobile Learn:

  1. Search for “Blackboard Mobile Learn” in your App Store.
  2. Once Blackboard Mobile Learn is installed, search for University of York (don’t try to connect to York University who are based in Canada!) using the search bar that automatically appears when you open the app
  3. Select University of York
  4. Log in using the same username and password you normally use to access Blackboard

  1. Hi Victoria, at the moment the app is for Apple, Android, BlackBerry and Palm only. I would hope that a Wndows mobile version is on the way, particularly as we start to see more devices running this OS. Will comment here if I get any further news from BlackBoard who make the app.

  4. A lot of the reviews in the PlayStore for Android give this app 1 star, lowering the average to 2 or 3 stars. A closer look shows that the vast majority of these reviews are in protest of having to pay the app a subscription. As we are from the University of York, we DO NOT HAVE TO PAY for this app, so please take this into account when considering the app’s rating.

    Having said that, I’ve found that the .pdf files won’t open through the browser option on my phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace), so I have to download them, which I need a separate app for.
